Jim Strang
Advisory Director
Jim joined Campbell Lutyens as an Advisory Director in 2021.
Jim is an experienced Private Markets investment professional and strategy consultant with a wide range of Board and C-level experience gained across multiple organisations over the last 25 years, notably with Hamilton Lane Inc (NASDAQ:HLNE), the largest investor globally in Private Markets strategies with AuM of over $900B, where he served on the Global Investment Committee and as Managing Director and Chairman of the EMEA business until 2021. Jim now holds several Board and advisory roles across the industry (noted below).
Jim holds the positions of Chairman of the Board at Hg Capital Trust plc (LON:HGT), Independent Board Director at the Business Growth Fund (BGF) plc., Independent Board Director at Pictet Alternative Advisers (PAA Holdings and PAA SA) and Supervisory Board and Investment Committee Member at Lindenstone AG.
In addition to his Board roles, Jim acts as a Senior Adviser to a number of leading Private Markets investment and advisory companies, notably Bain and Company and Campbell Lutyens.
Jim is an Adjunct Professor and Faculty member at London Business School where he teaches the School’s Private Equity and Venture Capital elective class as part of its MBA and MFin programmes.
Jim holds both Batchelor of Commerce (B.Com.) and Ph.D. (Finance) degrees from the University of Edinburgh Business School and a M.Phil.in Finance from the Judge Business School at the University of Cambridge where he was a Scholar. Jim completed the AMP, CGM and IDP-C certification programmes at INSEAD and is a member of the CFA Institute.
