Baring Private Equity Asia Fund VII raises US$6.5 billion at hard cap
Baring Private Equity Asia (“BPEA” or the “Firm”) confirms the final closing of its seventh private equity fund, The Baring Asia Private Equity Fund VII (“Fund VII” or the “Fund”). The Fund was raised in 2019 and closed at its hard cap, with total capital commitments of US$6.5 billion. Campbell Lutyens is pleased to have acted as global placement agent.
Fund VII exceeded its target by $1 billion and is over 60% larger than its predecessor fund, The Baring Asia Private Equity Fund VI (“Fund VI”). At $6.5 billion, the Fund is one of the largest funds raised by an Asian-headquartered private equity firm.
Fund VII received strong support from BPEA’s existing investors and attracted a large number of new global institutions. The majority of the capital was raised from pension funds and sovereign wealth funds, including many of the largest sovereign wealth funds in the Asia Pacific region.
