Campbell Lutyens strengthens GP capital advisory offering with senior hire in North America
Category: Company Year: 2023
Campbell Lutyens is pleased to announce that Adam Smith has joined as a Managing Director in its GP capital advisory (GPCA) practice, working out of the firm’s New York office.
The North American appointment demonstrates the growth of the firm’s GPCA practice globally.
Adam brings with him more than 15 years of experience in financial services, the majority gained in asset management advisory with a focus on M&A, IPOs and financing. Before joining Campbell Lutyens, he served as a Director at Barclays and, prior to that, spent more than seven years at Credit Suisse. He holds an MBA from Columbia Business School and is a CAIA and CFA Charterholder.
Campbell Lutyens’ GPCA practice was expanded in 2021 and has since offered specialist advice to general partners on strategic growth decisions regarding their management company and their GP financing options, including minority GP stakes. It also advises fund managers on majority/control transactions. The firm has most recently advised Bridgepoint on its acquisition of New Jersey based ECP (Energy Capital Partners), Meridiam on a minority GP stake from Samsung, as well as other leading firms in North America such as Blue Owl (formerly known as Dyal Capital) and Dextra Partners.
Thomas Liaudet, Partner and Global Head of GPCA at Campbell Lutyens, said:
“We are delighted to welcome Adam to the team. His experience and deep understanding of the US private markets means he is perfectly positioned to continue expanding our GP capital advisory offering in North America.”
“This continued growth comes at a time when an increasing number of general partners are seeking to be more proactive in the development and growth of their businesses or, in some cases, manage succession. Industry consolidation is now in motion and the level of activity has surpassed what we have historically seen in the private markets. We are very excited, as a firm, to have the resources and senior expertise to meet growing demand for our services from GPs in North America.”
